Sacred Elixir stormed home to win the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) a fortnight ago and leads the 2016 Caulfield Guineas field.

A standout in his native New Zealand before his first trip to Australia, Sacred Elixir ran second in an Ellerslie minor over 1200m on debut and won the Countdown To Karaka Million (1200m) before placing a credible sixth in the Listed Karaka Millions (1200m).

Debuting in Australia for a comfortable win in a Sunshine Coast sprint over 1400m, the Pour Moi gelding progressed to sixth in the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) before breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level with a blistering performance for success in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m).

Damian Lane retains the ride on Sacred Elixir in the 2016 Caulfield Guineas, who should prove extremely tough to beat.

Hey Doc is yet to taste anything but success this time and is another outstanding chance confirmed in the 2016 Caulfield Guineas field.

Trainer Tony McEvoy had a big wrap on Hey Doc from the time he debuted to racing for a comfortable win in a Morphettville maiden race in January, but the gelding returned to the paddock after managing to beat only one runner home in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 27th.

Resuming this time for a strong win in the Cove Hotel BM70 (1200m) on August 7th, the son of Duporth repeated the dose in the Quest Moonee Valley Handicap (1514m) before demolishing a strong field in the Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) last Friday.

Divine Prophet is another horse that has returned to racing in slick form this time and has been confirmed in the 2016 Caulfield Guineas field.

Returning to the paddock after running third in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m), Prized Icon stamped himself as a colt to follow through spring with a dominant win in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) first-up on August 20th.

Progressing to fourth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m), the Choisir colt ran a close second to Impending in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) last time out and will carry benefit into the Caulfield Guineas.

Impending has followed a strikingly similar form line to 2014 Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win and should prove very tough to beat on Saturday.

Resuming for third in the Group 2 The Run To The Rose (1200m), the Lonhro colt again ran third in the Golden Rose before returning to winning form last time out.
