Star Witness May Miss Caulfield Guineas

September 3rd, 2010

With unsure track conditions at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday, Star Witness may miss his scheduled Danehill Stakes run and thus a later attempt at the Caulfield Guineas.

With weather forecasts for Saturday pointing to a dead track, trainer Danny O’Brien is not confident that Star Witness will have a run.

The Blue Diamond Stakes winner was considered a decent prospect in the Danehill Stakes and could be a contender for the 2010 Caulfield Guineas, but a missed race tomorrow means Star Witness will likely be redirected to the Schillaci Stakes on Caulfield Guineas Day instead.

Reports like this can make early Caulfield Guineas odds seem quite dangerous, but taking the earliest odds is great value if your picks do end up running in the Caulfield Guineas final field.
